Bell & Ross: Instruments for Professionals in the Sky.

As a pilot, few watch brands resonate quite like Bell & Ross. Founded in 1992, the brand quickly earned a reputation for creating rugged, legible, and purpose-built watches that draw heavily from the world of aviation. Their iconic square-case design—modeled after cockpit instruments—feels right at home on the wrist of someone who actually spends time on the flight deck.

Bell & Ross watches prioritize function without sacrificing form. High-contrast dials, oversized numerals, and reliable Swiss movements make them not only visually striking but also practical under pressure. That blend of utility and style is hard to ignore.

At Charis we have an a have sourced and sold many Bell & Ross. Contact us with any questions!

What is the ORIGINAL Bond Watch? You might be surprised!

The Real Original James Bond Watch? A No-Date Rolex Submariner.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aD9v_1xtaM

When you think of James Bond, you picture a man of precision, sophistication, and rugged charm — and the watch on his wrist has always been part of the mystique. While recent generations associate 007 with Omega’s true aficionados know that the original Bond watch wasn’t a high-tech gadget or a product placement. It was a no-date Rolex Submariner — pure and simple.

Sean Connery first wore the Rolex Submariner in Dr. No (1962), setting the standard for the Bond look. The specific reference, most likely a 6538, was a no-date diver with oversized crown and no crown guards worn on a NATO strap.

The choice wasn’t random. Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, was a Rolex man himself — he wore an Explorer and described Bond in the novels as wearing a “heavy Rolex Oyster Perpetual on an expanding bracelet.” There were no product deals in the early films; the Submariner was reportedly borrowed for the shoot, selected simply because it fit Bond’s character: dependable, understated, and built for anything.

Unlike modern Bond watches loaded with gadgets or polished to red carpet shine, the no-date Submariner was raw and real. It was a watch you could take diving, wear with a dinner jacket, or use to time a detonation — which is exactly what Bond did.

So while marketing deals have shifted Bond’s wrist over the decades, the true original remains the no-date Rolex Submariner.

The sub no date is a recently sourced and sold piece at Charis Watches. Interested?

A love letter to the Tudor Black Bay Burgundy.

By a Very Classy, Well-Dressed Gentleman of Undisclosed Origin

Good day, fine people of the internet. If you’re reading this, then congratulations—you have both impeccable taste and excellent wrist awareness. Let’s talk about a watch that exudes charm, sophistication, and just the right amount of swagger: the Tudor Black Bay Burgundy!

This watch doesn’t just tell time—it tells your time. The moment I put it on, my confidence went up, my biceps looked stronger, and a golden retriever nodded in approval as I walked by. Coincidence? Hard to say.

Let’s take a look at the specs (because we’re all mature adults who appreciate the details):

200 meters water resistance, which is deeper than my thoughts during a smooth jazz solo.
Master Chronometer Certified, which basically means this thing is a brainiac wrapped in steel.
Gorgeous burgundy bezel, the kind of deep red that says, “I pair well with mahogany and leather bound books.”
Iconic dive watch design, especially appealing for those of us that are.. kind of a big deal!

It’s not just a watch. It’s a statement. A declaration. A subtle flex wrapped around your wrist that says, “Yes, I’m on time. And yes, I look good while being so.”

So, if you’re looking for a timepiece that does more than just tick—one that turns heads and sparks conversations—this might just be your match.

Stay sharp. Stay timely. Stay….sassy! And if your wrist feels a little light… you know where to find us.

Commitment issues?

Try the Rotating Watch Strategy

Experience More. Commit Less.
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR SPOUSES.

If you're someone who loves luxury watches but shudders at the thought of locking into a single piece forever, you're not alone. Enter the Rotating Watch Strategy—a smart, flexible way to explore the world of fine time without the long-term commitment.

What Is the Rotating Watch Strategy? Glad you asked!

Simply put, it’s the idea of buying a watch, enjoying it for a time, and then selling or trading it for something new. Think of it as dating in the watch world. One month you’re sporting a rugged Panerai, the next you're dressed up with a sleek Vacheron Constantin. You get the thrill of ownership, the joy of wearing something new, and none of the guilt when it’s time to move on.

Why This Works

Watches, especially luxury timepieces, tend to hold their value especially when bought right. By rotating through different pieces, connoisseurs can try out a wide range of brands, movements, and styles without being stuck with a single piece forever. It’s also a clever way to “test drive” a brand before going all-in on a grail watch. In the last 6 months I have worn Breitling, Omega, Panerai, Hamilton, Tudor, and Rolex! Each provides a different experience and feel.

How Charis Watches Makes It Easy

At Charis, we specialize in sourcing authentic luxury timepieces that align with your taste and budget. Whether you're hunting for a Rolex Submariner, a Cartier Santos, or something else.

But we don’t stop there—we also help you sell the watches after you are done! That might mean listing them on your behalf, or using our Buyback Program, where we repurchase select watches we originally sourced for you. It's all part of the experience.

You get:

Expert sourcing of your next piece
Guidance on market value and timing your sale
Optional buyback for easier transitions
A steady stream of fresh wrist-wear to keep things interesting

Why It’s Worth Trying

Variety – Experience a wide range of designs, complications, and sizes.
Education – Learn what you like (and don’t like) through hands-on wear.
Liquidity – Watches are assets. When managed properly, you can enjoy them without major financial loss.
Fun– There’s always something new to look forward to.

So if commitment isn't your thing, no problem. We’ll help you keep the rotation going.

Curious what's next for your wrist? Let's find out together!!

The Holy Trinity of Swiss Watches:

Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and Vacheron Constantin

In the world of watches three names rise above all others—Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and Vacheron Constantin! Notice that Rolex is not mentioned!! Often these three are referred to as the “Holy Trinity” of Swiss watchmaking.  While many brands offer prestige and luxury, the "Trinity" represents the pinnacle of heritage and horological artistry.

Patek Philippe
Founded in 1839, Patek is known for its elegant complications, minute repeaters, perpetual calendars, and chronographs. An interesting fact is Patek has remained fiercely independent and family-owned.

Collectors covet Patek’s timepieces not only for their technical prowess but also for their investment potential. Iconic models like the Calatrava, Nautilus, and Grand Complications routinely break auction records. Their slogan, “You never actually own a Patek Philippe, you merely look after it for the next generation,” has become a symbol of the brand’s commitment to legacy.

Audemars Piguet or "AP"
Audemars Piguet, established in 1875, has always been bold in its approach. AP is best known for revolutionizing the industry with the Royal Oak in 1972—a luxury sports watch made of steel, designed by the legendary Gérald Genta.

The Royal Oak defied convention and redefined what a high-end watch could look like. Its octagonal bezel, exposed screws, and integrated bracelet created a new category entirely. Today, Audemars Piguet continues to innovate with the Royal Oak Offshore and Code 11.59 lines.

Vacheron Constantin
Founded in 1755, Vacheron Constantin is the oldest continually operating watch manufacturer in the world. Their motto is “Do better if possible, and that is always possible."

Models like the Patrimony, Overseas, and Historiques reflect the brand’s refined aesthetics. Vacheron also regularly creates bespoke pieces through its Les Cabinotiers atelier—one-off watches made for the world’s most discerning collectors. While it tends to fly under the radar compared to its flashier siblings, Vacheron Constantin is often regarded as the connoisseur’s choice.

Why These Three?
The Holy Trinity isn't about brand hype—it’s about legacy and craftsmanship. You might also argue that these are an elaborate investment!!

A couple interesting facts about each of these:

*Patek produces 68,000 watches per year.
*AP produces a bit less at 51,000 watches per year.
*VC is the most exclusive at only 35,000 watches per year.

Compare this to Rolex who builds close to 1,000,000 watches every year.

Luxury Timepieces for Discerning Watch Collectors

GO BLUE!

There’s something undeniably captivating about a blue dial on a wristwatch. It strikes a balance between boldness and elegance, standing out just enough to catch the eye without shouting for attention. Whether deep navy or sunburst electric, a blue dial adds dimension, personality, and a touch of refinement to any timepiece. I also grew up watching BYU sports so perhaps that plays into my love of the blue!!

Two of the best-known blue dial watches, the Rolex Submariner "Bluesy" and the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M, are proof that color can elevate a watch from great to iconic. The Bluesy  (126613LB)  with its rich royal blue dial and matching ceramic bezel, contrasted against gold accents and two-tone steel, is both sporty and luxurious. It’s a conversation starter, a status symbol, and a summer essential, all in one.

Then there’s the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M (210.30.42.20.03.001), where the blue dial meets laser-engraved wave patterns and a classic stainless steel case. The effect? Sleek, modern, and unmistakably cool. James Bond would approve.

Blue dials also offer versatile styling. They dress up or down, look great in the office or at the beach, and flatter virtually every skin tone. While black and white dials remain timeless staples, blue injects just the right dose of personality for collectors and first-timers alike.

In short, blue dial watches like the Bluesy and Seamaster prove that a little color can go a long way.

Hamilton!

If you follow this page you know how much I love Omega. This week, however, I branched out and purchased a very simple and classic mechanical-a Hamilton Khaki Field "Murph" (named after one of the main characters in "Interstellar").

The Hamilton Khaki Field Murph is more than just a watch—it combines cinematic history, quality craftsmanship, and timeless design, making it an exceptional entry-level mechanical timepiece. This can be purchased for less than $800!

A Piece of Movie History
One of the standout reasons the Murph is so beloved is its starring role in Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic, “Interstellar”. In the film, the watch becomes a crucial plot element, symbolizing the connection between father and daughter across time and space. Hamilton worked closely with the filmmakers to design the watch, ensuring it fit both the story and the rugged, adventurous spirit of the characters. The Morse code for "Eureka" on the second hand is a subtle nod to the film, adding a layer of intrigue and meaning.

Hamilton's Renowned Quality
Hamilton has a legacy of producing reliable, military-inspired watches, and the Murph is no exception. It features the H-10 automatic movement with an impressive 80-hour power reserve something rarely seen in entry-level mechanical watches. The movement is also robust and accurate, a testament to Hamilton’s Swiss precision and American heritage. The sapphire crystal and 100m water resistance further enhance its durability, making it a watch that can withstand both daily wear and more adventurous outings.

Timeless Aesthetics
The Murph's design strikes a perfect balance between classic and contemporary. Its 42mm stainless steel case is paired with a simple black dial, creamy vintage-style lume, and cathedral hands that offer a nostalgia and style. The legible Arabic numerals and clean layout make it versatile, suitable for both casual and semi-formal occasions. The black leather strap completes the package, providing comfort and sophistication.

In short, the Hamilton Khaki Field Murph is an ideal choice for those seeking a reliable, stylish, and historically rich entry into the world of mechanical watches. It not only tells time but also tells a story both on your wrist and on the silver screen!
