Museums and Locations

  1. Tower of London – 3 hours or more
    • Take the tour with the Beefeaters, tickets should be purchased in advance
    • Do the night lock up tour if you can get tickets
    • Don’t skip the Crown Jewels
    • The cafe on property is actually pretty good
  2. Tower Bridge – 1 hour
    • Most think this is called “The London Bridge”, it’s not
    • Don’t skip the part under the bridge
    • Tickets can be purchased on sight
  3. The British Museum – 5 hours
    • Free, but you’ll want to get tickets for an entry time
    • Big museum – think Smithsonian.
    • They stole a lot of cool stuff.
  4. St. Paul’s Cathedral – 2 hours
    • Climb the Dome
  5. Westminster Abby – 2 hours
    • It closes early for eventide, a daily singing service
    • Take the time to go to the upper floor gallery.
  6. Palace of Westminster – Parliament Building – 2 hours
    • Take the tour!
    • They let you on the floor of parliament, it’s cool.
  7. Churchill War Room – 2 hours or more
    • This is two museums in one – Churchill and the war bunker
    • The Churchill Museum portion is big and las a lot to see. Could take you a week if you wanted it to. It’s very impressive.
  8. Greenwich Prime Meridian – All Day
    • Where time is measured from
    • Cool museum
    • Kind of out a ways but worth it
  9. Monument to the Great Fire of London – 2 hours
    • Its a fun little tower climb
  10. The Shard – 2 hours
    • A great view of the city day or night
  11. Victoria and Albert Museums – 5 hours or more
    • Just a big museum with lots of historical stuff
    • Good cafe too
  12. Science Museum – 2 hours or more
    • Big museum of science stuff
  13. LDS Chapel with Christus – 10 mins
    • Just a chapel but it has a Christus statue
    • Next to the Science Museum
  14. Windsor Palace
    • Huge castle outside of town, west of the airport
    • Coll grounds too
  15. See a play in the West End
    • Cool theaters
    • Busy area but fun
    • Don’t eat food here, overprices
  16. Take a river tour boat ride
    • Not too spectacular but a great way to see a lot of the city sights
  17. London Transport Museum – 3 hours
    • Kinda nerdy but a great museum non-the-less.
  18. Take a Jack the Ripper Tour at night – 2 hours
    • A fun way to see some of the city at night
  19. Gondola ride at IFS Cloud Royal Docks – 2 hours plus getting there
    • It’s a bit out east of the main city
    • A great view of that part of town
  20. Guildhall Art Gallery – 1 hour
    • Kind of a hidden gem
    • Small, free, has some cool stuff
    • Basement has a roman amphitheater ruins
    • The guild hall next door is private but has a lot of cool history
  21. The National Gallery – 2 hours or more
    • Free National Art museum
  22. The National Portrait Gallery – 2 hours or more
    • Free portrait art museum
  23. Temple Church – 1 hour
    • Where the Templar Nights were started
  24. Buckingham Palace – ½ hour unless you get a tour
    • You can take a tour of it, but tickets must be gotten in advance.
    • If it’s a busy summer day and the king is in the palace it can be busy.
    • Kinda like just standing outside the White House and taking pictures.
  25. The Sherlock Museum – 1 hour
    • Kinda nerdy but also fun if you are a fan
