Places and Things
This will move from Dublin, south along the coast, up the west coast, through Northern Ireland and back to Dublin. Basically a giant clockwise circle starting at Dublin
- Dublin – things I have done:
- Trinity College
- Book of Kells Exhibit
- Library where you can see the original Irish Harp
- Henry Street is like a main drag of shops and people
- Guinness Museum
- it’s the number one attraction in the whole country (sad)
- It’s more like a Disney Land exhibit than it is a peek into the the actual workings of the brewry.
- they sell more t-shirts than anything else.
- but you get free drink (of soda!)
- St. Patrick’s Cathedral
- beautiful church
- St. Stephen’s Green
- a nice park in the city
- Trinity College
- Dublin – things I would do but have not done:
- Kilmainham Gaol
- Prison museum of famous political prisoners of “The Troubles”
- hard to get tickets
- Temple Bar Pub
- famous pub in a cool neighborhood
- Christ Church Cathedral
- Dublin Castle
- Parliament House
- National Museum of Ireland
- National Gallery of Ireland
- Leinster House
- Kilmainham Gaol
- Johnnie Fox’s Pub
- epic classic pub that offers a special 3 course meal and a music show. It’s a must see.
- Glendalough National Forrest area
- Upper Lake
- Roundtower
- Hermitage
- Glenmacnass Waterfall
- Rock of Cashel
- Very famous castle ruins
- not sure why it’s so famous but it’s cool
- Blarney Castle
- gotta kiss the Blarney stone!
- Cork
- A popular stop, I have not been there but it’s on most people’s list
